Pencil Drawings

"Flowers for Betty"
Pencil Drawing - 2004

Afte years of being careless with the chemicals involved in the batik process, I developed serious chemical sensitivities. Facing the possibility of having to end my life long love affair with the batik process, I began exploring different mediums.I found drawing to be such an effortless medium to produce the realism I was striving for with batik. As I was putting together this web site I realized how important these drawings have become to my batik process. In capturing a likeness in the pencil drawings I am somehow able to distill the image into a batik with little effort.

Most of these drawings are part of my personal collection. I have done a few commissioned portraits, and one that I am currently working on will eventually be made as a batik as well.

I welcome custom orders , commissioned portraits, call so we can chat.
